At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want. -- Lao Tzu

Where are we in the adoption process?

We have sent our homestudy and fee to the USCIS office in Jacksonville and are waiting for them to contact us for our fingerprinting appointment. There is no telling how long that will take. It's a government agency and they do what they will do. So we wait.

We are also waiting for our passports. They are late. I need to call my congressman's office and find out what they have found out about them. It doesn't get to be a real headache until after the USCIS appointment. But the dossier can't be sent to China without them.

Our other documents are being certified and authenticated by our agency and will be ready to go once these last few pieces are in place. Then we wait for China to decide to send our LOA (Letter of Acceptance) and then the TA (Travel Approval) about three weeks later. We don't know when we will be in China yet. But it's looking like it might be over the holidays. Of course that's just a guess.

We are both impatient to go and get our daughter. She will be turning 3 on 20 Aug, and it makes me sad we won't be with her for her special day.
